The two men were found on Monday following a three-day search and recovery mission.  Police are saying that many people were thrown from the boat when it hit a wave while making a turn.  Both of the deceased had military connections.

Hawkins was a current US Air Force Chief Master Sergeant and was assigned to the 628th Logistics Readiness Squadron.  He had served more than 28 years in the Air Force.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragic loss of life, “said Col. Robert Lyman, Joint Base Charleston Commander.

Williams was also an active duty member of the US Air Force and had been deployed at one point in the past to the Middle East.  He used to be a flight engineer and later became a load master.

Officials admit that no one on the boat was wearing a life jacket at the time of the accident.  The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources still has an open investigation in regard to the accident that cost two men their lives.

Bracewell was booked in the Berkeley County jail, and was granted bail in the amount of twenty thousand dollars.

“A beautiful day on the water with friends quickly turned ugly when alcohol was consumed and boat safely wasn’t followed.  When takin the risk of driving a boat with friends on board you must also assume the responsibility for their safely,” says Joe Sandefur of, top managing attorney at a personal injury law firm in South Carolina.

When boat safety is ignored by both drivers and passengers it is often a recipe for disaster.  It is imperative that life jackets be worn at all times, despite how strong of a swimmer.  If you are thrown from a boat and knocked unconscious they could potentially save your life.  Another risk that should never be taken is to ingest alcohol while on a boat.  Driving a boat while under the influence will cause your reaction time to be slower and your judgement to be much worse.
